Phenix
City, AL – Only two days after seeing the
race track for the first time in his career, 16 year old
Dillon Wood made the starting field in the 33rd
Annual National 100 at East Alabama Motor Speedway. In a
field that was filled with some of the biggest names in
the dirt late model world today including Bloomquist,
Madden, Owens and McDowell, Wood captured finished a very
respectable thirteenth.
“We
achieved what we set out to do. The guys and I talked
about what we wanted to achieve today. We wanted to finish
the race and keep all the fenders on it. And we were able
to do that tonight. We lost a couple of laps but we took
the checkered and made a bunch of laps. It was pretty
special to just make a race with all these guys here. And
I was able to learn a lot by following some of them around
here.” Wood said after the race.
“I
know I need seat time and laps to get better so today was
a great day for me. The track got really slick last night
and I was pretty used to that because that is how Volusia
( Speedway ) tends to get and I have a lot of laps there.
Tonight the track changed a lot and you had to stay up on
the wheel and keep up with what is going on. It was a lot
of fun. I really need to thank my dad and our friend Alex
Vickers for all their hard work this weekend.” said Wood
