New
Smyrna Beach, FL – 16 year old rookie dirt late
model driver Dillon Wood will join wily veterans like
Scott Bloomquist and Randle Chupp as well as red hot super
stars Chris Madden and Jimmy Owens for the 33rd running of
the National 100 slated for November 1-4, 2007 at the East
Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. Wood will
enter the late season classic, which pays a whopping
$30,000 to the winner, for the first time in his very
young career.
“We are looking forward to getting back on the race
track. We have been following the O’Reilly Southern All Star Tour for the last few months and they have been
off for a couple of weeks now, so we haven’t been
anywhere. But we looked around at the different schedules
and decided we wanted to go and try East Alabama. It will
be my first time there but we have some good information
about the race track and we have heard some good things so
I think we can be competitive.” Wood said.
“My dad (and crew chief Todd Wood) found some things
wrong with our car this week so this will be a good test
for what we changed. Plus to have a chance to race in such
prestigious event against that level of competition will
be a real thrill. When you look at the names that have won
that race, it is kind of a who’s who in dirt late model
racing. So we are really looking forward to getting up
there and giving it a shot.” said Wood from his New
Smyrna Beach race shops.
Wood is fresh off of a set of events at Golden Isles
Speedway two weeks ago. Wood qualified on the outside pole
of the first segment of the Friday night October 12th
Southern All Stars East event but handling issues
sidelined him early relegating him to a twenty-third place
finish. Wood rallied from the tail of the second twenty
lapper to finish in the twelfth spot. In Saturday
O’Reilly Southern All Stars action Wood again came away
with a top fifteen finish in fourteenth against some of
the toughest competition in the south.
Wood will soon be re-launching his website which is
located at www.dillonwood.com
on the World Wide Web. Dillon and the Dillon Wood Racing
Team appreciate the support of their fans, family and fine
sponsors. The 2007 sponsor line-up includes: Bearden Oil
